The road is potholes. The potholes are koi ponds. She is on foot because the road requires it.

An onna-bugeisha in travel robes navigates a potholed road, naginata in hand. Each pothole is a perfect circle of water with nishikigoi moving slowly inside. The ponds recede behind her, smaller and smaller, toward the motorcycle parked at the end of the road. The kamon is on its headlamp. It is waiting.

She is not looking at the motorcycle. She is looking at exactly where her foot is landing now.

The seal reads 障中有道. Within the obstacle, there is a way. The wave-pattern of her hakama is the same water she is walking through. She is wearing the road she is navigating. This is not a coincidence.
