An onna-bugeisha in full armour stands in a subway doorway, naginata held horizontally across the frame. The doors will not close. A large tortoise crosses the platform gap at its own pace. The red warning lights are on. The system objects. She is not acknowledging the objection.
The seal reads 静護無侵. Quietly guarding without intrusion. She is not defiant. She is not performing. She is simply maintaining the space the tortoise requires, for as long as the tortoise requires it.
The system has an opinion. She has heard it.
