THE STORY BEHIND THIS TEE
Zhuangzi was a Taoist philosopher writing in China around the fourth century BC. In one of the most famous passages in Chinese philosophy, he describes dreaming he was a butterfly, before waking up.
Once awake, he seemed himself again — solid, certain, human. But the certainty didn't last, and he didn't know if he was Zhuang Zhou who had dreamt he was a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming he was Zhuang Zhou.
The text never resolves this. It simply names the gap between the two states the Transformation of Things, and leaves it there.
Beneath the headset sits a sentence asking the same question, just as unresolved. The device exists specifically to produce Zhuangzi's confusion on purpose — full immersion, full conviction, and a return afterward that never feels quite as certain as it should.
