THE STORY BEHIND THIS TEE
Laozi wrote the Tao Te Ching in China around the sixth century BC. Chapter 15 describes the qualities of the ancient masters — unhurried, patient, yielding — and ends with a single observation about water.
Muddy water, let stand, becomes clear.
No intervention. No stirring. No refreshing. The clarity arrives on its own, when nothing is done to force it.
The phone in this illustration is lying flat. On the screen, a refresh icon. The impulse is right there, one tap away.
Muddy water, let stand, becomes clear.
