Two monks were arguing about a flag. One said the flag was moving. The other said the wind was moving. Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch of Chan Buddhism, happened to be passing by.

The argument was never about the flag. It was never about the wind. Both monks were watching an external object and locating the disturbance there, when the only thing actually moving was inside them.

The spinning beach ball on this screen is not moving either. The computer has frozen. Nothing is happening. And yet.
