The wave is already here. She is still adding the detail.
An onna-bugeisha in a formal blue kimono kneels before a sand Himeji castle — five tiers, rooflines, battlements, built with complete accuracy in sand. The Hokusai wave is arriving from the right, already taking the upper levels apart. The trowel is in her hand. She has not looked up.
The lobster is holding the naginata, unbothered. The naginata is in good claws.
The seal reads 不城其心. The mind is not a castle. Fortifications fail. The work in front of her does not. She is not building for permanence. She is building because this is what is in front of her now.
