The enso is one of the oldest symbols in Zen practice, a circle drawn in a single brushstroke, often in one breath, without lifting the brush or correcting the line. It isn't meant to be a perfect circle. The imperfection is the point. The enso represents completion, the void, and the present moment all at once, a gesture made and then released, with nothing held back and nothing added afterward.
This piece places a loading symbol inside that circle. Twenty mechanical dashes, fading from dark to light, endlessly rotating, waiting for something to finish. The enso is one continuous human gesture made with total commitment. The loading symbol is a machine's way of saying not yet, fragmented and repetitive, going nowhere in particular until it does.
Same shape. Opposite relationship with time.
